Shahid Iqbal takes over as Commander Pakistan Fleet

The Rear Admiral Shahid Iqbal has taken over the charge of Commander, Pakistan Fleet from the Vice Admiral, Noman Bashir. An ISPR (Navy) press release issued on Thursday said that the Fleet Commander, Rear Admiral, Shahid Iqbal would exercise full operational and administrative control of all PN units comprising Destroyers, Submarines, Missile Boats and Naval Air Arm besides, supporting establishments.
Iqbal joined the Operations Branch of Pakistan Navy in 1974. He has rich experience of various command and staff appointments including commands of missile boat and destroyer, Chief Staff Officer to Commander Pakistan Fleet and Assistant Chief of Naval Staff (Operations). He has also served as a faculty member at PN Staff College and Armed Forces War College (NDC).
In addition, Iqbal also held the office of the Director General, Naval Intelligence and Commander Task Force-150 (Multinational Naval Force) at Navcent, Bahrain. The change of Command Ceremony was held at Pakistan Navy Dockyard on Thursday morning where the outgoing Commander, Pakistan Fleet formally handed over the command to the newly appointed Fleet Commander.
