Cameron Munter receives "2010 International Impact Award"

After receiving the award, U.S Ambassador Munter presided over the granting of three wishes including a doll house, a toy motorcycle, and a television, to terminally-ill children namely baby Amna, Rasal Maula and Ms. Shabana.

In addition to the 2010 International Impact Award, MAWFP also presented Ambassador Munter and his wife, Dr. Marilyn Wyatt, with certificates of appreciation.

In his brief address, Cameron Munter said the U.S government helps millions of people through USAID around the world to pursue better lives.

Speaking about Make-A-Wish Foundation, he said the foundation helps to fulfil wishes of terminally ill children to gain strength to recover from illness.

He also thanked the organizers for acknowledging the support of the U.S government to Make-A-Wish Foundation.

Addressing the occasion, General Secretary MAWFP, Mirza Ikhtiar Baig said MAWF is the biggest wish granting organization in the world in 47 countries.

He said the President MAW International at Dublin Conference awarded "2010 International Impact Award" to USAID in recognition of their support to MAWF Pakistan, and it is his privilege that as Secretary General MAWF Pakistan to present this Award on behalf of MAW International.

He said Make-A-Wish Pakistan is an affiliate member dedicated to granting the wishes of children suffering from life threatening illnesses in Pakistan.

Since inception, MAW Pakistan has granted hundreds of wishes of the ailing children including some unique wishes, he said.

He thanked to USAID for continued support through their grant and Ambassador Fund Program (SGAFP).

We have already granted USAID sponsored 55 wishes of the terminally ill children during 2011 and request them to double the wishes next year.

Mirza Ikhtiar Baig advised to telecast these wishes in TV channels in form of documentary for which we require assistance from US Consulate and USAID.

He said "the patronage and support of US Ambassador Cameron Munter, USAID and US Consul General William Martin is indeed a great source of inspiration for MAW Pakistan and we hope this support would continue for this noble cause which has definitely created a soft image with the people of Pakistan.
