Moot on responsible conduct of science

KARACHI: A two-day international conference on `Responsible conduct of science' will be held at the University of Karach

An announcement on Saturday said that the moot is being organized by Dr. A. Q. Khan Institute of Biotechnology and Genetic Engineering (KIBGE), University of Karachi, in collaboration with the International Council for Life Sciences (ICLS) Pakistan Chapter.

The organizers said that the event will revolve around themes of Philosophy of Science, influence of Science on Society, role of media in promoting the awareness of scientific values and achievements, bio-safety and bio-security, intellectual property rights and commercial applications of science.

They said that during this two day conference local and international scientist and scholars will deliver their talks, include Dr. Arjanan Mahalecthumy (Malaysia), Dr. Dinesh Raj Bhuju (Nepal), Muhammad Ali and Muhammad Hussain (Australia) and Terence Thomas Taylor (USA), while from Pakistan prominent speakers include Prof. Syed Irtifaq Ali (KIBGE, University of Karachi), Dr. Anwar Nasim (President, ICLS-Pakistan), Prof. Syed Sikandar Mehdi (Ex-Registrar, University of Karachi), Prof. Kausar Abdullah Malik (FC College University, Lahore), Prof. Shahana Urooj Kazmi (Pro-Vice Chancellor, University of Karachi), Prof. Iqbal Choudhary (ICCBS, University of Karachi), Prof. Ikram-ul-Haq (GC University, Lahore), Prof. Shakeel Ahmed Khan (University of Karachi), Prof. Zabta Khan Shinwari (Quaid-e-Azam University, Islamabad), Prof. Abid Husnain (University of Karachi), Dr. Zafar Arif (University of Karachi), Imran Aslam (President, GEO TV), Syed Abbas Ali Abidi (Vice-Chancellor, KASBIT), Prof. Fayaz Vaid (University of Karachi), Dr. Noman ul Haq (LUMS, Lahore), Dr. Hasan Mujtaba Naqvi (Ex-DG, KIBGE), Dr. Shahnaz Perveen (PCSIR, Karachi), Syed Jaffar Ahmed (Director, Pakistan Study Center, University of Karachi), Prof. Anwar Ali Siddiqui (Aga Khan University, Karachi), Dr. Huma Naz Baqai (IBA, Karachi), Prof. Seemi Naghmana (Urdu University, Karachi) and Mr. Babar Ayaz (Renowned Journalist).
