Bollywood’s veteran actor, Reema Lagoo, famous for playing the role of loving mother to big stars like Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan, has died at 59.

The actress passed away in a Mumbai hospital after suffering a cardiac arrest in Wednesday night, IANS reported.

Lagoo was known for playing the role of the mother of main characters in films and TV soaps. She also acted in several Marathi language plays.

She starred in several popular movies like Hum Aapke Hain Koun, Hum Saath-Saath Hain, Maine Pyar Kiya and Kal Ho Naa Ho.

She also made a name for herself in TV shows like Tu Tu Main Main and Shrimaan Shrimati. She was last seen in Naamkaran.

Soon after starting her acting career in Bollywood, Lagoo became famous for playing mother’s role opposite some of the biggest stars in the industry like Salman Khan, Akshay Kumar, Sridevi, Madhuri Dixit and Shah Rukh Khan.

She is a winner of four Film fare Awards for best supporting actress.

People have taken to Twitter to pay their tributes and express their sorrows over her demise.
