CPEC long term plan: 41000 MW hydro projects along river Sindh planned

"The projects would be completed under China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) long term plan", Parliamentary Secretary for Planning, Development and Reforms, Dr Ibadullah said during Question Hour.

Responding to a question, the Parliamentary Secretary said that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa had had due share in CPEC projects, however if the province had any further project to be included in CPEC, it could approach the federal government with proper plan.

He said one each economic zone was being built in all provinces of the country under CPEC and there was no discrimination being done to KP province.

Replying to another question, Dr Ibad informed that three energy projects under CPEC had been shelved including China Sunec (50 MW), Salt Range Coal based power project (300) and Zonergy Solar Project Bahawalpur (900).

Responding to yet another question, the Parliamentary Secretary informed the house that work on CPEC projects was in full swing. He said road infrastructure projects were targeted to be completed by 2018-19, energy early harvest projects were expected to be completed by 2017/18 except hydel projects which would be completed by 2020-21.

"Gwadar and Railways projects are expected to commence soon", he said adding industrial parks and Special Economic Zones would be established by as per decision taken in sixth Joint Coordinating Committee on CPEC.
