The minister expressed these remarks while talking to media persons and addressing the relief distribution ceremony here at Town Committee Office Jhuddo on Friday.
Accompanied by Ambassador of Saudi Arabia at Islamabad, Abdul Aziz Bin Ibrahim Al-Gadeer, and Director General Kind Fahad Relief Foundation Dr Khalid Othmani, Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan distributed ration bags, blankets and tents among the rains and flood victims of Jhuddo Town.
The King Fahad Relief Foundation under Kind Abdullah's Relief Campaign for Pakistani People had sent one thousand tents for one thousand affected families, 2,500 blankets and 4,000 food packages each containing 10 kg rice, 5 kg sugar, 5 kg lentil, 5 litter cooking oil, 2 kg powder milk, 1 kg salt and tea for rains and flood affected people of Jhuddo of Mirpurkhas district.
Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan thanked to the King and people of Saudi Arabia for providing financial assistance to rains and flood victims of Sindh adding that both Pakistan and Saudi Arabia are enjoying brotherly relations and the people of both the countries thinking themselves as one nation.
At the time of Eid celebrations, she said that provision of ration bags, blankets and tents are the Eid gifts for rains and floods affected people of the province.
The people of Sindh highly appreciate the relief efforts of the government of Saudi Arabia, she added.
The Minister said that magnitude of the losses as a result of unprecedented heavy rainfalls was very high therefore, the President Asif Ali Zardari had appealed to the world community to extend their cooperation to Pakistan Government in its relief and rehabilitation work for the rains and floods affected people.
The response to government of Saudi Arabia in pooling its share in shape of relief goods and financial assistance is highly commendable, she added.
The minister said that Saudi Arabia always extended full support to Pakistan at the international forum and the people of Pakistan are highly thankful for this spirit of Saudi Arabia.
Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan also eulogized the efforts of President PPP Women Wing MNA Faryal Talpur for her relief and rehabilitation work for the rains and floods affected people of the province adding that active participation the PPP elected representatives in relief and rehabilitation clearly indicating that PPP fully believed to serve the masses without any discrimination.
The minister also lauded the role of MNA Mir Munwar Talpur for personally monitoring the relief and rehabilitation work for the victims adding that PPP has deep roots among the masses and the party leaders and workers could not think to leave the people at this crucial time and it was the reason that they are striving hard for early relief and rehabilitation of the viReuters
She also appreciated the role of media in highlighting the issues of rains and floods victims adding that the government is making all out efforts to address the issues which are being highlighted by the media.
The Ambassador Saudi Arabia at Islamabad, Abdul Aziz Bin Ibrahim Al-Gadeer, while speaking on the occasion said `Both the people of Saudi Arabia and Pakistan consider themselves as one nation and the people of Saudi Arabia can not leave the people of Pakistan at this crucial time'. `We believe that we must stand for the people of Pakistan who are out brothers', he added.
He said that provision of 1000 tents, 2500 blankets and 4000 food packages for rains and floods affected people of Jhuddo Town of Mirpurkhas district is an Eid gift for them.
The government of Saudi Arabia would continue its financial assistance for rains and floods victims till their rehabilitation as witnessed by the people of Pakistan in the last year's floods, he assured.
Among others, MNA Mir Munawar Talpur and MPA Mir Hayat Talpur also spoke on the occasion and highlighted the losses which suffered by the people of Mirpurkhas as a result of heavy rainfalls and breaches in Left Bank Outfall Drain.
Earlier in a briefing, the district administration Mirpurkhas informed the Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting and Ambassador of Saudi Arabia at Islamabad about the losses of rains and floods in the district and measures being taken for relief and rehabilitation of the affected people.
