PPP starts feeling heat of PTI's popularity
LAHORE: Pakistan Peoples' Party (PPP) Punjab has started feeling the heat of the popularity of Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf as rumours are high that important office-bearers of provincial set up of the party are likely to switch over to Imran Khan ahead.
Sources said the PPP Punjab President Imtiaz Safdar Warraich has also taken up the issue with the authority concerned, requesting to take up the matter with the party co-chairman at the earliest.
According to the sources, rumours are growing that finance secretary of the PPP Punjab Aurangzeb Barki has decided to join the PTI. A number of other names are also being mentioned in this regard. However, Aurangzeb denied of having any intention to join PTI and said that how he can switch over after sacrificing for the PPP for such a long time. A successful October 30 public meeting of the PTI at the Minar-e-Pakistan has perturbed leading political parties, especially the PML-N, which had organised a public rally at Bhati chowk on October 28. Recently, grandson of Walid Iqbal, Allama Muhammad Iqbal, has also announced joining to the PTI.
