German exports unexpectedly rise in September

The seasonally-adjusted trade surplus widened to 15.3 billion euros from an originally reported 13.8 billion euro surplus in the previous month. That compared with a forecast for 12.5 billion in a Reuters poll of economists.

Exports rose by 0.9 percent from a month earlier compared with the poll forecast for a 1.0 percent drop. Imports fell 0.8 percent versus an expected 0.3 percent increase.
