Afridi, Razzaq, Sarfraz return to Pakistan team for ODI, T20 series

Acting Chief Selector Muhammad Ilyas announced the 16-member squad with opening match slated to be held at Dubai International Stadium on November 11.

Veteran batsman Misbah-ul-Haq, who is currently leading Pakistan in the test series against Sri Lanka, has been retained as skipper.

Apart from Afridi, Razzak and Sarfraz, Umer Akaml and Sohail Tanvir Ahmed also staged a comeback in the team.

Opener Taufeeq Umar, rising batsman Azhar Ali, keeper Adnan Akmal and left arm paceman Wahab Riaz, who is currently in UAE for the test series, were axed from the ODI and T20 squad.

Shahid Afridi, who announced his retirement from international cricket while protesting against the policies of former PCB Chief Ijaz Butt and differences with chief coach Waqar Younis, reversered his decision recently after Chowdhry Zaka Ashraf took over as the new PCB boss.

Afridi led the team in the World Cup and took them to semifinal before losing to India in the semifinals at Mohali.

Sarfraz Ahmed, who played a test match against Australia over two years ago finally returned to the team.

Misbah-ul-Haq (Captain), Muhammad Hafeez, Imran Farhat Shahid Afridi, Younis Khan, Umar Akmal, Shoaib Malik, Sarfarz Ahmed (wicketkeeper), Saeed Ajmal, Abdul Rehman, Umar Gul Aizaz Cheema, Junaid Khan, Sohail Tanvir, Abdul Razzak and Asad Shafiq.
