Pak-China FM98 Dosti Channel launched

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Broadcasting Corporation (PBC) and China Radio International (CRI) on Monday launched local transmission of FM98 Dosti Channel in a colourful ceremony here at Pakistan National Council of the Arts (PNCA).

PBC Director General Khursheed Ahmed Malik and CRI Vice President Hu Bangsheng signed a mutual agreement on the occasion. Senior officials of China Embassy were also present.

Addressing the ceremony, the PBC Director General said Pakistan and China enjoyed cordial bilateral relations. Their friendship was now touching the peak as work on the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) was in full swing, he added.

He said PBC was proud to be a close partner of CRI.

Khursheed Ahmed Malik said PBC's external service was presenting a one hour programme on Chinese language.

He expressed the hope that cooperation between the two organizations would further strengthen their cordial relations in future.

CRI Vice President Hu Bangsheng said Pakistan and China had been connected with each other through the Silk Route for last 2,000 years.

He appreciated the Ministry of Information, Broadcasting and National Heritage for extending its cooperation in initiating various cultural programmes and establishing the FM channel.

Earlier, the function was started with national anthems of Pakistan and China. Students of various schools presented the the anthems.

Later, the artists of PNCA performed the traditional dances of all the provinces, including Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Jammu & Kashmir. A cake was also cut to mark the occasion.
