SIALKOT: Japanese Ambassador in Pakistan Takashi Kurai Monday said that his country was ready for providing all technical support and guidance for modernising industries in Sialkot.

Addressing an important meeting of Sialkot business community, held at the Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) here, the ambassador stressed the need for making sincere efforts for enhancing bilateral trade between Japan and Pakistan.

He also promised ensuring easy access of Sialkot exporters to markets in Japan.

SCCI President Majid Raza Bhutta and SVP Adnan Arshad Sethi were also present on this occasion.

He said that Japan was developing business-to-business contacts between the business people of the two countries.

The Japanese envoy said that there was a huge scope for establishing joint ventures and business cooperation between Japan and Sialkot-based companies especially in the field of sports goods, surgical instruments, leather products and information technology.

On this occasion, SCCI President Majid Raza Bhutta said that Japanese ambassador's visit would help in expansion of bilateral trade by opening new avenues of economic and trade cooperation. Despite having immense prospects of growth, the trade between the two countries had been very limited. In 2015, Pakistan exports to Japan stood at US$176 million and imports at US$1.82 billion.
