The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 105.20 points (0.89 percent) to 11,913.99 in closing trade. The tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite added a hefty 61.98 points (2.35 percent) to 2,699.44, while the S&P 500, a broader measure of the markets, advanced 15.98 points (1.29 percent) to 1,254.23. "US stocks are adding to their recent rally on the heels of a favorable 3Q earnings report and outlook from Dow member Caterpillar Inc, upbeat data out of Asia, as well as a slew of M&A reports," Charles Schwab analysts said in a client note.
