LEAs directed to be vigilant

Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad on Friday directed the law-enforcement agencies (LEAs) to utilise all possible resources to foil the nefarious designs of terrorists. Presiding over a meeting here at the Governor House to review law and order, he issued orders to strengthen intelligence network.
Sindh Home Minister Rauf Siddiqui, IG Police Jehangir Mirza, Capital City Police Officer Niaz Ahmed Siddiqui, DIG Operations Mushtaq Shah and other officers were present on the occasion.
Rauf Siddiqui and other officials briefed the governor about the strategy to reinforce steps in connection with the improvement of security in the province.
Ibad said Sindh had achieved significant success in eradication of terrorists and hoped that the law-enforcement agencies through utilisation of best of the capabilities would achieve further progress. The governor observed that Karachi is the emerging economic hub of the region that warrants progress of the country and that was the reason that these anti-state elements were targeting this city. He vowed that no effort would be spared to foil their evil intentions.
Sindh Governor Dr Ishrat-ul-Ibad Khan has said that no compromise would be allowed on the security of life and property of people and development of the city because the progress of Karachi is the progress of the province and the country.
"Karachi is the economic backbone of the country and the country will develop when this city will develop", the Governor said while speaking in separate meetings with a delegation of Sakinan-e-Shehar-e-Quaid, AJK former president and prime minister Sardar Abdul Qayyum and Nawab Mohammed Jehangir Khanji at the Governor House here on Friday.
He said March 2 bomb blast was an attempt to mar the government efforts for a stable economy and fast development, but the culprits would be caught soon.
Dr Ishrat-ul-Ibad Khan pointed out that nowhere in the world, including the developed countries, the suicidal attacks could be stopped. However, these incidents could be controlled with stringent security measures and all out public co-operation.
In this regard he referred to an incident at Masjid Bab-ul-Islam where because of timely action by law enforcing people, relatively less damage was caused.
However, to us the life and property of each and every citizen is dear and all possible steps are taken for their protection, he said.
Speaking about the prevailing situation with reference to blasphemous acts against the Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him), the Governor pointed out it was not only an issue of Pakistan but of 1.30 billion Muslims of the world.
"We should not do a thing which may send a negative message and blur the image of Muslims and Islam in particular."
He said what impact could come on the countries responsible for blasphemy by damaging our own properties during protest.
He also referred to the representative meeting of Ulema of all schools of thought, business community and the journalists held at Governor House the other day. He said that everyone agreed for determining one specific place for protest, demonstrations and other events so that the common man remained unaffected and daily wagers might continue to earn their livelihood.
The delegation of Sakinan-e-Shehar-e-Quaid informed the Governor that traditional international Mushaira would be held here on March 22 for which all arrangements had been completed.
