The Pakistan Railways Advisory and Consultancy System (PRACS) has decided to launch the Hazara Express, a fast train previously known as Chenab Express, from January 1, said a source in PRACS here on Wednesday.
The train will run from Karachi to Havellian (Hazara) via Multan, Sargodha, Jhang and Rawalpindi, the source said, adding that the railway authorities had decided to offer discounted fares to travellers for 15 days from the day of its opening. Earlier, the train was expected to be launched on October 15, but the devastating earthquake in Hazara Division and AJK had resulted in delay in the launch of train, as Hazara was main operational area of the PRACS.
All arrangements for the launch of the trains were completed but the earthquake had destroyed the main area of operation for the Hazara Express, the source said. "PRACS had initiated an effective campaign, particularly in Hazara division and established an office in Mansehra, which was too destroyed by the earthquake", he said.
