Talking to Business Recorder, Chairman All Karachi Tajir Ittehad Muhammad Atiq Mir slammed the police department for not being proactive to maintain peace and law in the markets. “We are very concerned about the rise in daytime robberies at the markets, as the police had been inactive to arrest the criminals as the fresh fears of lawlessness has just started panicking the businessmen,” he showed fears. He also slammed the officials of Arambagh Police Station for failing to maintain peace in the markets those falling under its jurisdiction. He said the local residents were also being robbed and no complaints of the victims were being heard. “Police station has become a rest house for the officials as scores of police personal continue to perform duties to escort the protocol of Sindh Home Minister Manzoor Wasan for the last several months,” Atiq Mir said, adding that the government should solve the serious problems of traders and residents of the area. He warned that the traders fraternity and residents of the area would stage a sit-in in front of the police headquarter to lodge a strong protest against the rising crimes in markets and denounce the police for being indifferent to the public problems. He said that traders were greatly disturbed of the unabated crimes which had resurfaced which started disturbing trade activities and increasing life security threat from the well-equipped outlaws working as gang with premeditated actions. Atiq Mir also showed concerns over the police inabilities to track down the organized manner, outclassing the intelligence and other official law enforcers. He said the outlaws were snatching cellular phones, valuables from people in markets while robbing shops without any fears of police in their daytime crimes. “The situation is very much agonic and deteriorated for the traders and if police did not take action to ensure security to the businessmen then it is possible for them to stage a protest sit-in to condemn not the criminals but police for so delicate to pay its duties,” he said.
