Musharraf due in Beirut today

Published Updated

President General Pervez Musharraf is due to arrive here on Saturday to pay condolences to the family of slain ex-premier Rafiq Hariri, a Lebanese government source said on Friday. Musharraf will present his condolences at the Hariri family home before visiting the tomb on Martyrs' Square where thousands of mourners continue to flock since the February 14 assassination, they said. President Musharraf was not expected to hold talks with Lebanese officials in his brief visit to Lebanon.
Lebanese authorities have criticised French President Jacques Chirac for visiting Lebanon to present his condolences without contacting any official.
