Cotton growers advised to drain out stagnant rainwater from fields

FAISALABAD: Cotton growers have been advised to drain out stagnant water immediately from the fields for a healthy crop.

Talking to the media here on Tuesday, Director Cotton Ayub Agricultural Research Institute (AARI) Dr Sagheer Ahmad said that rainwater had salutary impact on rice and fodder crops but it was very injurious to cotton crops.

If rainwater became stagnant in the cotton field for more than 48 hours, it causes harm to cotton plants and subsequent destroy the crop.
