Pakistan and Bahamas establish diplomatic ties

Pakistan and Bahamas established diplomatic relations by inking a joint communiqué here at the Pakistan High Commission on Thursday. The joint communiqué was signed by Pakistan's High Commissioner Dr Maleeha Lodhi and Bahamas's High Commissioner Basil O'Brien. Bahamas foreign minister Fredrick A. Mitchell and officials of Pakistan High Commission were present on the occasion.
The joint communiqué said the two countries would cement their bilateral relations 'on the basis of principles and purposes of the charter of the United Nations and international law, particularly on international peace and security, equality among states, national sovereignty, independence, international ties, territorial integrity and non-interference in the internal affairs of states'.
