Earlier, Moonis Elahi's counsels completed their arguments on an application filed under section 249-A seeking Moonis' acquittal in the case.

The counsels Amjad Pervaiz Malik and Rai Basher argued that the prosecution did not have any solid evidence against the accused, thus, the court should acquit the accused declaring him innocent. However, the newly appointed FIA prosecutor sought time to argue.

The court accepting request adjourned the matter till October 12. FIA's counsel will argue on acquittal application on next hearing.

Moonis Elahi was accused of receiving Rs320 million in the NICL scam through bogus accounts. His Manager Abdul Maalick, Rizwan Bhatti and Khalil Ahmad were also indicted in the case.

Earlier, Lahore High Court Chief Justice Ijaz Ahmad Chaudhry had transferred the NICL case to the D&SJ, Lahore, after the judge of special court for banking offence, Malik Abdul Rasheed, had refused to proceed with the case.
