The spokesperson has clarified that Indus River System Authority (IRSA) had agreed to maintain Mangla reservoir level at 1210 feet above mean sea level till June 30, 2016 to facilitate works at Khaliqabad.
However, keeping in view the overall system conditions, IRSA went for raising the level beyond 1210 feet above mean sea level. In a recent meeting with IRSA on June 21, 2016, it was agreed to maintain water level at 1214 feet above mean sea level till June 30, 2016, so that progress of rehabilitation work may not affect.
Accordingly releases of water are being regulated to maintain the water level as agreed with IRSA, he further said.
The spokesperson said that the work at Khaliqabad is in full swing and there is no bottleneck in this regard. Impounding of water will resume after June 30, 2016 as per IRSA directions while completion of rehabilitation works will also remain in progress side by side without affecting the filling of reservoir, the spokesperson concluded.
