ISLAMABAD: On the recommendations of National Counter Terrorism Authority (NACTA), the Pakistan Telecom Authority (PTA) permanently blocked 75 Sims of the spam callers who misused the Counter Terrorism Helpline 1717 facility by generating false alarm for the Law Enforcement Agencies (LEAs).

NACTA 1717 Helpline was established to facilitate public for quick response from LEAs against any emergent terror threat and moving immediately to help save the precious human lives, NACTA news release here stated.

The action of blocking Sims was initiated over irresponsible attitude on part of handful people who hindered the efficiency and effectiveness of the facility established for countering terrorism despite of having inbuilt warning messages of legal consequences for those who may use the helpline with irresponsible attitude.

NACTA took up the issue with PTA which subsequently blocked 75 SIMS of those individuals who have made more than 50 Spam and frivolous calls on the NACTA Helpline.

NACTA appealed the Public to use the Helpline with responsibility since it's about saving human lives and countering terrorism.
