WASA holds HESCO responsible for acute water shortage

HYDERABAD: The management of Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) has held Hyderabad Electric Supply Company (HESCO) responsible for acute shortage of water in Hyderabad adding that due to hours long load shedding, the citizens are unable to get sufficient water in the month of Ramzan-ul-Mubarik.

The WASA spokesman informed here on Wednesday that machines of filter plants and pumping stations were required continuous power supply to ensure uninterrupted water supply but the HESCO management failed to provide uninterrupted power supply even from alternate feeders.

This situation was causing interruption in supply smooth flow of water in some localities of Hyderabad, the spokesman said and added that Jamshoro Filter Plant which was catering 95 percent need of the citizens was badly affected from this situation while the water supply process was also affecting at Old Filter Plant main distribution pumping station and other pumping stations as a result of load shedding.

Besides load shedding, the spokesman informed that mechanism of power supply system for WASA installations also experiencing damages due to power tripping from HESCO.
