Punjab govt allocates Rs735mn for wildlife sector

LAHORE: The Punjab government has allocated an amount of Rs 735 million in the budget 2016-17 for the Wildlife sector.

According to the budget documents, budgetary allocations to protect, conserve, manage and sustain diversified wildlife species and their natural habitat have been increased as compared to the last year's Rs 700 million.

The government has allocated Rs 735 million for wildlife management to increase and protect the population of endangered wildlife species, improvement and sustainability of existing wildlife parks, increase the community based organisations (CBOs) in the province for effective wildlife conservation, for the fiscal year 2016-17.

Meanwhile the punjab government has allocated Rs 313.461 million for on-going wildlife schemes while Rs 421.539 million have been allocated for new schemes in 2016-17.
