The NGOs have also joined hands with the district governments, Pakistan Army and Navy to reinforce their relief efforts. In a similar effort to serve the people on humanitarian grounds, Pakistan Navy personnel, financial institutions and NGOs arranged several camps in various parts of the 23 flood affected districts of the province, particularly Badin, Mirpurkhas, Sanghar and Umerkot areas which received unprecedented rains in the recent history. The Pakistan Navy in collaboration with NIB Bank, NGO- Serving Hands Organisations (SHO), conducted relief operations in cooperation with the district governments and local representatives in these areas on Saturday and Sunday. An official of the HANDS informed APP here on Friday from Badin district that they have camped their teams in at least four districts on priority because of the magnitude of the disaster and need for humanitarian help to the people. He said that a 30-member team of doctors and paramedics of Serving Hands Organisation (SHO) in collaboration with NIB Bank and Pakistan Navy has organised free medical camps in different flood affected remote areas and also conducted anti-mosquito spray. Pakistan Navy's Commander Jawwad Haider and Commander Ghulam Shabbir, who led the Navy team provided logistic support as well as security and identified the affected areas especially in Sanghar district. The medical team consisting of doctors, paramedics, volunteers had arrived in Kamal Barraro in Tando Adam and treated more than 4,000 people including minors and women and distributed kitchen items. SHO's President Dr. Sikandar Shaikh said that most of these people were suffering from gastro-enteritis, skin infection, typhoid, malaria, asthma, besides arthritis and hypertension. He said SHO workers conducted anti-mosquito sprays in the relief camps and 20 spray machines and insecticides were provided to community volunteers working in Tando Adam to maintain and conduct work on self-help basis.
