Farmers advised to prepare land for Rabbi crops

“Stagnant water may badly damage the standing crops in the agricultural plains of Sindh. Therefore drainage of water is necessary for the sowing of wheat and other Rabi crops,” says the Met Office advisory to farmers issued on Saturday.

The advisory says that weather in the most parts of Sindh, Balochistan and south Punjab was likely to remain dry, however thunderstorm/rainfall of light to moderate intensity is expected at the scattered /isolated places of upper Khyber Pukhtunkhwa, upper Punjab and Kashmir from Oct 7 to 10, 2011.

“Normal wind pattern is likely to prevail over most parts of the country. Strong gusty winds are expected in upper Punjab (rice growing areas), upper Khyber Pukhtunkhwa from Oct 7 to 10, 2011,” the office adds.

The advisory says that nearly normal temperature range is expected in most parts of Punjab, Khyber Pukhtunkhwa and Kashmir. While 2-3 degree centigrade above normal temperatures is likely to hit Sindh and Balochistan.
