Wheat to be cultivated over 650000 acres in Jhang; DO Agriculture

This was stated by District Officer (DO) Agriculture Extension Jhang Muhammad Yousuf Tatla while addressing a meeting of farmers and field staff on Friday.

He said that sugarcane crop would be cultivated this year over 170000 acres, grams over 130000 acres, maize over 16000 acres, pulses over 10000 acres and oily crops over 15000 acres.

He said that cotton crop was cultivated this year over 185000 acres in district Jhang. He said that agriculture department evolved a comprehensive strategy to provide guidance and information to the growers so that they could get better production by adopting effective techniques for controlling pest attacks on their crops.

He said that certified seed of various crops was also available at Seed Corporations counters. The growers should purchase and use it for getting maximum production as this seed was not only disease resistant but also gave high quality production.

The DO Agriculture also directed the field staff to provide all necessary information to the growers to achieved 100 percent targets regarding cultivation of Khareef crops.
