Secretary General, Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal (MMA) Sindh Dr Khalid Mehmood Soomro has termed the 17th constitutional amendment a historic achievement of the MMA, which, he said had resolved the one-year long crisis.
He said, Alliance for Restoration of Democracy (ARD) leadership was unnecessarily issuing statements against the MMA leadership and termed it a non-serious approach by them.
Addressing Majlis-i-Amal workers in Sukkur on Wednesday Dr Soomro, who is also Secretary General of the Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam (JUI-F), said the MMA had always pursued politics of principles and its year-long dialogue with the government for resolving the LFO-related crises was with the best intentions.
He said: "We believe in democracy, rule of law and supremacy of parliament in which we have succeeded."
MMA leader maintained that Pakistan had been saved from a major crisis and said both the ruling party and the MMA deserved compliments for bridging their differences and for coming to an agreement through 17th constitutional amendment.
Dr Soomro said: "We are proud of MMA leadership, which had taken timely decisions to overcome the crisis and a major problem of the country was resolved."
He hoped that sanity and wisdom would now prevail in the parliament and the parliamentarians would make efforts to undertake legislation for resolving the country's problems.
JUI Sukkur leaders Maulana Abdul Qayoom and Haji Abdul Aziz Memon also addressed the workers.
