Those arrested or killed were carrying head money amount a total of Rs 42.6 million, the IGP Sindh Wajid Durrani was informed here Friday at a meeting to review law and order situation of the province at the Central Police Office (CPO).
A spokesman of the IGP's office said that the meeting was informed that crime rate on highways declined by 40 percent during the year due to intensive patrolling and setting of pickets on highways and raids on hide-outs of criminals.
The IGP was informed that police also registered 32 cases against influentials for holding jirgas to resolve disputes in their areas in Sukkur region and the action was taken to discourage the culture of jirga system.
While expressing satisfaction on the overall and order situation of the province, Wajid Durrani stressed upon the Police officers to adopt pro-active approach and conduct raids on hide-outs aggressively.
He also directed the senior officers to furnish list of police stations and police buildings damaged due to recent heavy rains and flood alongwith relevant details feasibility for renovation.
He further directed them to streamline process of promotion and to fill existing vacancies besides speeding up of pending appeal cases on merit.
