Raza Rabbani, CM Sindh discuss devolution after 18th Amendment

The Federal Minister met with Syed Qaim Ali Shah at the CM House here, said a statement issued on Monday.

Later, the Sindh CM briefed the media on his meeting with Mian Raza Rabbani.

He said five departments have been transfered to the province while after passage of 18th Amendment, five more departments are also being transfered to the provinces.

The Sindh CM said Mian Raza Rabbani has played a historic role in the passage of 18th Amendment.

He said each department has its own affairs and financial issue is the major one.

He said he has conveyed the problems to the Federal Minister as five departments have already been transfered and remaining five will also be transferred.

He said after amendments to the Constitution, progress is being made on the matter of provincial autonomy.

Speaking on the occasion, Mian Raza Rabbani said after taking oath as Federal Minister, he has started meetings from Sindh and in this regard, he has held a meeting with the Sindh CM.

He said 18th Amendment is a legislative devolution and significant progress has been made under it.

He said protection of the provinces is being ensured within the limits of the Constitution.

Mian Raza Rabbani said previously a stronger centre was considered as guarantee for a strong federation while present government has made progress through completion of the constitutional amendment, and termed the strengthened and secure provinces, as guarantee for the protection of the country.

He said five more departments will be transfered to the provinces by March 2011, while the devolution process will be completed by June 30, 2011.

Mian Raza Rabbani said the government will fulfill the constitutional requirements and two to three meetings have been held in Islamabad in this regard.
