Badin, where rain water is yet to be drained out has caused contamination of drinking water sources and exposed people to gastro- enteritis and diarrhea, that if not urgently attended could prove to be fatal.

Stagnant water has also caused outbreak of malaria besides different skin diseases.

Mobile teams of Medecins Sans Frontiers (MSF) and Organization for Medical Humanitarian Aid (MHA) comprising lady doctors and doctors of foreign origin have been despatched to the remotest areas of Badin district.

These teams are not only providing needed medical care to the patients but also examining the people in general for timely diagnosis of infections.

Dr. Erwin Gloria of MSF and Mona Koreijo of MHA told APP that they were working in close coordination with district health officials.

"We hold medical camps on recommendation of the concerned officials and also try to asses the situation through communities coming into our contact," said Dr. Gloria.

MSF is presently running its medical units at Tando Bago, Qaiser Khan Goth and Chandio Goth where 800 patients are under treatment.

The team of doctors and social mobilizers are also giving lectures to raise public awareness about prevention of diseases and its home based management.
