The Prime Minister held meetings with the prominent leaders of Pakistan People's Party here at PM House to exchange views with them on the issue of APC.
He held meetings with Defence Minister Ahmed Mukhtar, Leader of the House in Senate Nayyar Hussain Bokhari, Secretary General PPP Jahangir Badar, Interior Minister Rehman Mailk, Minister for Religious Affairs Syed Khurshid Shah, Minister for Information and Broadcasting Dr. Firdous Ashiq Awan, Senator Babar Awan, Raja Pervaiz Ashraf MNA, Qamar Zaman Kaira MNA, Nazar Muhammad Gondal MNA and other leaders.
The Prime Minister has decided to send personal letter to the leaders of the political parties extending them invitation to participate in the All Parties Conference.
The letter mentions the imperatives to hold the Conference, meant to give strategic direction to the nation in the wake of the security threats in the region.
Foreign Minister, Ms. Hina Rabbani Khar, presently in New York to attend the UN General Assembly session, will be returning immediately after her address to the Assembly on Tuesday.
She will brief the political leadership about the diplomatic efforts and activities of the country regarding the security situation in the region.
The military leadership will also brief the participants on the issues relating to defence of the country in connection with the security of the country and in the region.
The APC will focus on the recent threats to the national security where the political leaders will be briefed by the concerned officials about the latest situation and ways to deal with it.
The Prime Minister had also telephoned political leaders of various political parties and invited them to attend the national conference.
He had already telephoned Chief of Pakistan Muslim League-N Mian Nawaz Sharif, Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Chief Altaf Hussain, head of Awami National Party Asfandyar Wali, head of Jamaat-e-Islami Munawar Hassan, Jamiat-e-Ulema Islam-F Chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman, leader of Pakistan Muslim League-Q Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain, President Pakistan Muslim League (LM) Saleem Saifullah Khan, Pakistan Muslim League-F Pir Pagaro, Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf Chief Imran Khan, PPP-S chief Aftab Sherpao, JUI-N Chief Anas Noorani, Parliamentary Leader of MNAs from FATA Munir Khan Orakzai and Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed of Awami Muslim League.
