Construction of flood protection spurs in Lower Kurram

According to a press release issued by the Directorate of Information FATA the political administration of Lower Kurram has constructed two flood protection spurs measuring 121 meters long.

The spurs will benefit some 1,400 individuals and protect about 1,000 acres of agricultural land of these villages. The flood protection spurs will also protect public and private infrastructure from floods. The political authorities prioritized the scheme and completed construction of the spurs in a short period of time.

The press release added that the local community took active part in the construction, which resulted in timely and quality completion of the project.

In addition, local labour was also hired from the community to ensure a sense of ownership among the people.

The press release added that the government is focusing on addressing the basic needs of the remote and under developed areas with is an aim to improve the standard of living and ensure access to basic services for the population of these areas.
