Pesco disconnects electricity to mills, refugees' camps

PESHAWAR: Pesco has speeded up the disconnection campaign for nonpayment of outstanding dues throughout the province and in this regard electricity supply to Sher Khan Mills was disconnected against outstanding dues of Rs 15.4 million.

A Pesco statement said on Thursday the company's teams also disconnected power supply to 50 villages of Bannu Circle for nonpayment of dues worth Rs 440 million. These villages were being provided electricity through Daud Shah and Nourar feeders where Pesco was facing 98% line losses.

Electricity to T&T colony Haripur was also disconnected for nonpayment of Rs 5.4 million despite of certain notices.

The Afghan refugees' camps were also among defaulters and power supply to Hangu and Nowshera refugees' camps was disconnected for not paying arrears worth Rs 10 million.

In Peshawar power supply to Nasir Bagh, Warsak Road and Khurasan camps have been disconnected due to nonpayment of Rs 70.8 million while 2 camps in Mardan and Swabi power supply to two refugees' camps was disconnected for nonpayment of Rs 3.4 million.

Electricity supply to a Public Health tubewell at Swabi was also disconnected for nonpayment of dues amounting to Rs 350,000.

Pesco has warned its defaulters to deposit their outstanding dues immediately otherwise strict legal action will be taken against them and such cases will be referred to NAB for further action.
