Italian company intends to set up solar energy projects

KARACHI: An Italian company, ENI, has shown interest in establishing alternate energy projects in Sindh, especially, a solar energy project to generate 50 mega watt electricity at Sukkur.

The company has expertise in generation of electricity from Sun, Air and Biomass and intends to invest in the same.

A three-member delegation of the Italian company expressed these views while talking to Chairperson, Sindh Board of Investment (SBI), Naheed Memon at her office here on Friday, said a statement.

Managing Director, ENI, Giorgio Guids led the delegation of the Italian company.

Talking to Naheed, the delegation members said that the company can also establish Vocational Training Centres to produce skilled manpower for the power generation projects.

They said that their company has been working over 80 countries throughout the world while it had launched its operations in Pakistan in the year 2000.

Naheed said that the Sindh Government is encouraging the companies working on the alternate energy projects and all-out support is being extended in this regard.

The Chairperson SBI assured her full cooperation to the delegation on behalf of the Sindh Government, in investment in Sindh province.
