Sindh Police establishes computer forensic lab

This was stated here Friday by IGP Sindh Wajid Ali Khan Durrani during his visit to Expo Centre while talking to participants of 11th ITCN, Exhibition.

He said that through technical assistance of cell phone data sharing another feature of computer forensic laboratory, police have detected 1367 murder cases, 1582 kidnapping cases and 3943 other cases since June, 2008.

Durrani further spelled out the details of software to monitor the progress of the registered cases.

Wajid Ali Khan also shared the functioning of forensic lab in Karachi. He said that the one in Karachi was being up-graded and the new labs in Hyderabad and Lahore are created.

"The forensic science lab has capabilities like Automated Finger Print Identification System (AFIS), finger prints examination, chemical sample monitoring, crime scene investigation, forensic photography etc, he added.
