European stock markets rise at open

LONDON: Europe's main stock markets rose at the open on Thursday following gains across Asia and on Wall Street overnight.

London's benchmark FTSE 100 index climbed 0.4 percent to 6,184.33 points compared with Wednesday's close.

In the eurozone, Frankfurt's DAX 30 index advanced 0.3 percent to 9,648.55 points and the Paris CAC 40 edged up 0.1 percent to 4,288.71.
