NA Speaker called on Sri Lankan President

ISLAMABAD: Speaker of the National Assembly Dr.Fehmida Mirza called on the President of Sri Lanka Mahinda Rajapaksa at Temple Trees on Sunday.

Dr.Fehmida Mirza while talking to the Sri Lankan President said that Pakistan attaches great importance to its relations with Sri Lanka which are embedded in bonds of friendship, history and culture.

She said that Pakistan wants to take Pak-Sri Lankan relationship to "new heights", through collaboration in diverse fields, people-to-people and parliamentary contacts.

She thanked Sri Lanka for supporting the Pakistani Government in turbulent times and on issues at various regional and international forums.

She was accompanied by Mir Jan Muhammad Jamali, Deputy Chairman Senate and a parliamentary delegation comprising of Senators, MNAs

and speakers of Provincial Assemblies.

Dr Fehmida Mirza is in Colombo alongwith a parliamentary delegation to participate in the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association's 3rd Asia Region Conference.
