ISLAMABAD: While reviewing the on-going activities regarding the operation and maintenance of WAPDA hydel power stations, WAPDA Chairman Zafar Mahmood reviewed the repair works at Khan Khwar and Jinnah hydel power stations.

According to a press release issued here, the Member (Power) briefed the chairman about the latest progress of repair works of both the power stations. WAPDA Chairman was informed that the repaired parts of the first unit of Khan Khwar Hydel Power Station will be received from Heavy Mechanical Complex Taxila at the site during the second week of April.

The assembly work will be completed and unit made available for commercial operation in the beginning of the next month.

Likewise, the repair works on the second unit will be completed by the end of May 2016.

In this way Khan Khwar Hydel Power Station, will be available for commercial operation at its maximum capacity before the start of high water flows.

Briefing the Chairman about Jinnah Hydel Power Station, Member (Power) further informed that WAPDA hired the services of a firm for under-water repair of trash racks of the two units, which are currently under shut down.

The repair works are likely to be completed before start of high water flows and the two units with cumulative generation capacity of 24 MW will start supplying electricity to the National Grid.

Chairman directed to ensure that the repair and maintenance works of both hydel power stations be completed before the on-set of high water flow season for optimum generation from hydel power stations during summer.
