269 `relief camps' set up for livestock

In his progress report available here on Wednesday, the DG Livestock informed that due to torrential rains, huge displacement of animals has taken place in whole Sindh.

He said that keeping in view such difficult situation his management has dispatched 181 Veterinary teams for vaccination.

He informed that out of 269 relief camps, 11 have been established in Tando Mohammad khan, 18 at Badin, 9 at Tando Allahyar, 11 at Mirpurkhas, 3 at Tharparkar, 7 at Umerkot, 6 at Thatta, 8 at Dadu, 46 at Shaheed Benazir Abad, 17 at Shikarpur, 38 at Khairpur, 13 at Larkana, 12 at Noushehro Feroze, 9 at Sanghar, 5 each at Jamshoro, Ghotki and Karachi, 4 at Sukkur, 7 at Kashmore, 14 at Jacob Abad, 6 at Hyderabad, 9 at Matiari and 6 at Kamber/Shahdad Kot districts.

The Director General Livestock further informed that total number of 2,608,083 animals were attended by Veterinary teams upto September 17, 2011 out of which 1,198,988 large ruminant and 1165231 small ruminant were vaccinated, while 112,371 animals provided treatment.

Besides, 131,493 animals drenched Anti parasitic injection.

He said that services to provide prompt treatment to the animals at rain affected areas was going on and our teams would remain at these areas till situation becomes normal.

He advised to the breeders to contact with their nearest Veterinary hospital and relief Camp in case of any head of animal is affected by disease.
