In an earlier revision released in June, the IMF had foreseen gross domestic product growth in France of 2.1 percent for this year and 1.9 percent for 2012.
The revised forecast, part of the IMF's world outlook report, is lower than the official French forecast of 1.75-percent growth for both 2011 and 2012.
The IMF expects The French economy to expand slightly more than the eurozone as a whole, which the IMF forecasts to expand by 1.6 percent in 2011 and 1.1 percent in 2012.
