This was observed by Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah while presiding over a high level meeting at the CM House here on Monday, said a statement.
He said that there is an acute need of help and assistance for rain affected people, and so far the provincial government through PDMA and the District governments was making allout efforts to provide shelter, relief and other assistance to the affected people.
Syed Qaim Ali Shah added that Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani has said that there is need of coordinated efforts among all departments, agencies, NGOs etc.
The Sindh CM added that he himself visited the affected areas three times while the Prime Minister has also visited the badly affected areas and personally saw the relief and rescue operation and directed to have proper monitoring of relief measures.
The CM Sindh added that during last year's flood all agencies were providing help for the affected people, while during this year's rains, initially the Sindh Government alone was doing relief work, but after contact with the Federal Government, all agencies, Federal Government departments, NGOs and foreign agencies have come forward to assist the needy people.
Syed Qaim Ali Shah added that overall it is not an easy job to give relief and meet all needs of the affected people.
However, hardwork is to be done with proper coordination, as this is a very serious and challenging task.
He directed all the DCOs of the province that it must be ensured that relief goods are properly and judiciously distributed among the affected people.
He directed the Provincial Health and Livestock Departments to make concerted efforts to treat and save the lives of human beings and the cattle.
Sindh CM informed that besides, District Committees headed by Ministers/ MPAs, it has been decided to appoint Coordinators for various districts, who will monitor and coordinate the relief measures in their respective districts.
Sindh Chief Secretary informed the meeting that all the coordinators will visit the affected areas, while a Control Room has been established at President House Karachi, which will work round the clock and will receive reports from all agencies and departments including Coordinators, District Committees, DCOs PDMA, NDMA etc.
On the occasion, Sindh Information Minister Sharjeel Enam Memon, Minister for Agriculture, Syed Ali Nawaz Shah, Minister for Food Mir Nadir Magsi, Syed Sohail Akber Shah, Arif Khan, Ishaq Lashari, Naveed Kamran Baloch, and others highlighted the matter and presented proposals.
It was informed that the rescue work is over and relief work is going on, while it is essential for early recovery, that dewatering process is completed early.
Concluding the discussion, the CM Sindh said that it will be ensured that together with relief work, the water is drained out for the early recovery plan, for which Irrigation Department and WAPDA will ensure de-watering process.
Later, the Director General PDMA presented a briefing of relief measures in the meeting.
The meeting was also attended by Minister for Irrigation Jam Saifullah Dharejo, Minister for Rehabilitation Haji Muzaffar Shujra, Minister for Livestock Mir Abid Jatoi, Sindh Chief Secretary Raja Muhammad Abbas, Senior Member BOR, Shazar Shamoon, Additional Secretary to the President, Abdul Karim Ansari, Provincial Secretaries of essential departments and others.
