Sindh flood victims to be affected with epidemic: NDMA

Talking to a private news channel on Thursday, he said that if international community does not provide assistant immediately then over ten hundred thousand people may be contracted with various kinds of diseases.

He said that five hundred thousand children below five years are feared to face these diseases.

Spokesman said that over five million people have been affected with this flood. There are several organizations such as NDMA, Sindh Provincial Government and nearly fifty-six international NGOs are busy in relief and rehabilitation activities.

All they have formed over four hundred teams and they are still involved in survey work, he added.

He said the crops over forty five hundred thousand acres of land have been affected with the rains, nearly sixty thousand cattle have died and disappeared, nearly twelve hundred thousand houses have been damaged while over four hundred thousand have completely destroyed.

NDMA spokesman said fifty thousand tents have been provided to the affected people.

He also said that the ration worth of two and a half billion rupees has been sent to various areas and that they have approached to a very small areas because there is flood water and it hinders transportation and there are also the problems of law and order.

He said people are sitting at various places on roads adding fifty thousand more tents will be distributed in next two or three days.

He said according to the estimates of the Sindh Rehabilitation Board the crops and cattle worth about two hundred and fifty billion rupees have been destroyed.
