The benchmark Hang Seng Index edged up 14.90 points to 19,045.44 on turnover of HK$81.44 billion ($10.43 billion).

Chinese shares closed up 0.55 percent. The Shanghai Composite Index, which covers both A and B shares, was up 13.53 points at 2,484.83 on turnover of 54.8 billion yuan ($8.6 billion).
