European stock markets drop at open

LONDON: Europe's main stock markets declined at the start of trading on Thursday, with London's FTSE 100 index down 0.2 percent at 5,976.4 points.

In the eurozone, Frankfurt's DAX 30 index retreated almost 0.6 percent to 9,826.3 points and the Paris CAC 40 dipped 0.4 percent to 4,362.6 compared with the close on Wednesday.
