ISLAMABAD: Parliamentary Secretary for Petroleum and Natural Resources Shahzadi Umerzadi Tiwana Wednesday said the government was passing the benefit of decline in the rates of petroleum products in international market to general public.

Answering a question in National Assembly, she said the current government had taken fruitful steps to discover oil resources in the country.

She said there were seven components to accumulate the prices of oil goods, saying the changes to crude oil could be witnessed every day in international market but in Pakistan the rates are fixed every month.

Parliamentary Secretary said the rates of petroleum products were fixed after including custom duty, OMC margin, dealers' commission, petroleum levy and GST.

She said FBR was responsible to collect custom duty and GST. Ex-Refineries price has direct connection with rates in international markets, she maintained.
