FCCI demands scope of amnesty under Voluntary Tax Scheme for SMEs

FAISALABAD: President Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry (FCCI) Chaudhary Muhammad Nawaz Tuesday demanded to enhance the scope of amnesty under Voluntary Tax Scheme to the entire SMEs sector without any discrimination of trader or industry.

Addressing the 8th All Pakistan Chamber's Presidents Conference (APCPC) organized by Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce & Industry (RCCI) at Bhurban, he said that Government should take the business community into confidence while formulating its tax and economy related policies so that these could yield required results and put the country on the right track, says a press release issued here.

He appreciated the amnesty for traders but said that the same facility should also be made available to the SME sector. 'It would not only encourage the SME sector but also help in enhancing industrial productivity in addition to creating new job opportunities for the new generation,' he added.

He was also appreciative of the 8th APCPC and told that FCCI will host next APCPC at Faisalabad during the month of July this year.

Commenting on the joint declaration of the Bhurban Conference, he said that business community fully understands importance of China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) as it would not only spur economic activities in Pakistan but also prove a game changer for the entire region.

He said that Government was making serious efforts to overcome the energy crisis but the pace of work on existing dams should be expedited in addition to the construction of new dams particularly in the area of Gilgat-Biltastan.

He also demanded to expedite work on CASA-1000 in order to inject 1000 MW of additional electricity into the national grid as early as possible.

Similarly, the gas projects including TAPI (Turkmenistan, Afghanistan, Pakistan, and India) and Pakistan-Iran gas pipeline should also be completed at a faster pace to meet the increasing energy demand of the country.

He assured that business community of Pakistan will fully support Government in early completion of these projects.

Later,Hamayun Pervaiz President RCCI along with Abdur Rauf Alam, President FPCCI presented a special shield to Chaudhary Muhammad Nawaz president FCCI.
