KBP asks relief to flood-hit farmers
KBP President Sardar Zafar Hussain, talking to a group of journalists here on Sunday after visiting flood-hit areas in the country, said that recent rains had destroyed standing crops on a large area in Punjab, Balochistan, KP and AJK.
He asked the government to take more steps to check exploitation of farmers by traders, fertiliser dealers and others.
He said that last year the Kissan Board had extended full cooperation to flood-affected farmers across the country, adding this year office-bearers of the board were also providing all possible help to flood-hit farmers of different areas.
He also demanded the government provide free seed, fertiliser, electricity besides waiving agriculture loans and interest-free loans to farmers.
He apprehended that if timely aid was not provided to flood-affected farmers, production of wheat would be considerably reduced.
