Rain affectees to be provided full assistance

He was talking to newsmen at Darbar Hall, Secretariat District Coordination Officer, on Tuesday.

Coordinator MNA Faryal Talpur, Ziaul Hassan Lanjar and MPA Ghulam Qadir handio were present at the briefing.

Chairman Baitul Mal said that cooked food for 5,000 rain affected people of Nawabshah would be provided under the Benazir Langar Programme on daily basis under the directives of President Asif Ali Zardari.

He said that so far 4,000 food packets were distributed among the rain affectees through out the district while another 10,000 packets would be distributed from Wednesday.

He said that medical teams of male and female doctors are arriving here to provide medical facilities to rain affectees.

Addressing the occasion, Coordinator Ziaul Hassan said that Nawabshah received over 400 mm rain in recent spells and MNA Faryal Talpur is personally visiting the affected areas in order to reduce their grievances.

He said that Karachi Water and Sewerage Board on request has provided four bousers in order to drain out rain water accumulated in business areas of the city and low lying areas around.

He said that 65 medical camps are established in the district Shaheed Benazirabad, more than 10,000 affectees were shifted to relief camps while 5,974 families were given tents.

He said that so far 13 persons expired due to rain havoc while dozens received minor and multiple injuries.

He said that 95% crops of vegetables, sugarcane and cotton have damaged.

Zia Lanjar said that recent rains are natural calamity and it requires facing with patience.

He appreciated the courage of people of the district, which faced this situation with patience.
