Normalisation of water supply to take time: KWSB

KARACHI : Water supply will remain affected in different parts of the city due to 65-hour long power breakdown at Gharo
03 Sep, 2011

The power supply to the Gharo Pumping Station was suspended on August 30 at 11:30 and restored on September 2 at 1.00 am, a KWSB spokesman said here Friday.

The four-day power breakdown at Gharo has affected the supply of water severely on the occasion of Eidul Fitr to different areas of the city that also included Landhi, Korangi, Malir, Shah Faisal Colony, PAF Shah Faisal, PNS Mehran, PECHS and other areas.

The long failure of power at the pumping house has caused short fall of about 70 mgd (70 million) gallons of water.

The residents of the affected areas may face water shortage for further 24 hours as the system will take time to normalize after operation of the pumping house.
