The Advisory forecast that scattered rain/thundershowers expected in lower Sindh on Monday/Tuesday. All concerned authorities are advised to remain alert during the coming week from August 29 to September 3.

It said widespread rain/thundershowers with isolated heavy falls expected from Wednesday to Saturday in most parts of Sindh including Karachi. Heavy falls may cause severe flooding in the province, particularly in lower Sindh.

The Weather Advisory has advised the Irrigation authorities in Sindh to reduce the inflows in the canals during the coming week. Close monitoring of Left Bank Outfall Drain (LBOD), is also advised to avoid the possible breaches due to heavy rains in coming week.

The Advisory said that Monsoon has been active in Pakistan, and its currents are continuously penetrating in upper parts of the country causing scattered rains.

It said the meteorological conditions indicate that a strong weather system is developing over central parts of India that would cause widespread heavy rains in Pakistan during the coming week. Heavy to very heavy rainfall may generate severe flooding in lower Sindh, it added.
